    Yes, these can be indeed quite "tricky" and would need to be decided on a case by case basis I guess. It is possible to set up individual tags to "exclude" similar tags e.g. cat_ears assume that it depicts a cat or is cat like, therefore if you try just to tag cat, it will automatically change to cat_ears. If you feel a certain tag implies another meaning as well, feel free to suggest this on the tag entry itself (Implications) and a Admin will then decide if your suggestion is valid/suitable.

    @Wildstar From a functionality perspective, you should probably add both 'animal_ears' and 'cat_ears', as that way it will show up under both searches.

    That being said, I have no idea what the official policy is (at least from memory there isn't one published anywhere)
