Kuroshitsuji - Sebastian Michaelis (SEGA)Kuroshitsuji - Sebastian Michaelis (SEGA)Review

Sebastian Michaelis from SEGA

So what's the sitch?
Sebastian Michaelis is the butler of the Phantomhive household, catering to his master's (Earl Ciel Phantomhive) every need with ease and perfection. Almost too much perfection, as you find out later - he's a demon. (And a particulary sexy one at that. Okay, I'll stop with the fangirling now) He's acting as a butler to assist Ciel with the tracking down of the people who murder Ciel's parents and put Ciel through months of torture, in exchange for his soul.
The name of the manga/anime is Kuroshitsuji, or Black Butler. The anime is currently still looking for an english release and the manga is under licence and is currently being published by Yen Press.

The SEGA Kuroshitsuji prize figures are of Ciel, the main feature of this review. Ciel also has a review by me.

Sculpting
The scuplting on this figure is pretty great for a prize figure, the folds are well done and the pocketwatch's chain is lovely. There's also an extra that isn't shown in the official shots - Sebastian has tea pouring out of the teapot and into the cup in the actual figure. It's a nice touch, especially since it's transparent.

Painting
The painting is as good as it can get with Sebastian, considering that his attire is nearly entirely pitch black. His shoes are painted with a nice shiny black paint, a wonderful touch. There is one thing that I have an issue with though - his eye's aren't red, on closer inspection. While they are very well painted for such a small figure, they've got more of a brown colour, eg. what you'd see Haruhi's eyes coloured like.

Posing
This figure, like the Ciel figure, shows off a more relaxed side of Sebastian. He's pouring tea calmly for Ciel, as we so often see in the manga or anime. It's good, but don't forget, figure companies, that we also want to see bad ass male figures! *sebastianwithhistrademarkcutleryandawesomeposein1/8scalefigureplzwinkwink*

Base
This one is the same as Ciel's, a simple black rounded off base. It keeps him standing well, so I'm happy. They could have made it bright pink, which would have been OwO

Packaging
The packaging is nice and simple, with a picture of the figure on the front and a nice black border around the edge. I would have liked a window though, but that's just me.

Enjoyment
I really like this figure, as I like Ciel, and it's great value for the price. I think I'll be getting more SEGA prize figures in the near future.

So there you have it, SEGA's Sebastian Michaelis prize figure. ^^

(come back later, I may have a picture up with my Sebby nendo ^^)

LadyVinciraI really want Sebby.... <3

As a note, though, his eyes aren't ALWAYS red in the show, are they? ^^' They are brown when he's not going all Demon on someone.

Great review, though! <333

I always considered them to be a darkish-red, and a glowing red when in demon form. Then again, it could be my computer screen; a friend says his eyes go bright fluro pink in demon mode on her computer XD

Thank you for the kind words!

KzukiToo bad I really don't like the faces on this set. It's just plain bad..
Otherwise I wouldn't have canceled my pre-orders, but I saw the final product and thought 'No thanks!' xd.

I quite hated the faces in the official shots, they looked terrible, but now I've got them they seem a lot better.

Great review. I'm just happy to be able to own figures of these two. I wish more figure companies would make more male figures. Look at how they sold out so fast!

These prize figures are great for their price. I can't wait to get mine in the mail. n_n
