Well, here I am on a very early Christmas morning. I woke up far to early and decided to scan through the various pre-owned figures of AmiAmi.

We all know this can be a dangerous thing. Especially for 3980 yen. Especially when you don't know all anime and all anime characters. Especially when the character you come across is damn good looking. Especially when you think she fits a lot of the criteria you tend to buy.

So you buy her....Then you come onto MFC to add her into your collection and start noticing various other members reviews, quotes, etc. THEN it sinks in.

To quote Admiral Ackbar from Return of the Jedi - "It's a trap!"

Well, I just inadvertently bought my first male figure. DOH! Well, I guess "she's" good looking for being a he.

Ahhh, humor....must maintain a sense of humor about these things.

Merry Christmas to all!

eiszeitshinigami4 vuotta sitten#5611807It's a good thing I've watched 00 before (even if it's been a while) XD; Hehehehe, oh Anime the things you do. Also I ended up reading "It's a Trap" in Klaus's voice *face palms*

See, I'm going to have to saddle up and watch the series now.

Lol...I kinda felt like I was being scolded by a teacher when I was way back in middle school..circa 1987 or so.

HobbyCentric4 vuotta sitten#5602745Now, I was not trying to produce insult nor injury. I simply like to collect female figures because to me the female form is a natural work of art. I also tend to like a lot of the female characters in the series I do watch as much if not more so than many of the male characters. I simply thought I was buying a female figure. Nothing more, nothing less. I found a certain amount of ironic humor in the situation and thought I would share. Believe me, I'm not going to turn around and sell him off just because he is actually not a she. It's as I told Bioburn, some of my other figures stretch the definition of female and do so by a long shot.
I'm not a teenage kid anymore. Socio-political B.S. of the intermixing of things such as recognized genders, religions, races etc.? I really don't have time for. We all have red blood running under our skin and the same genetic double helix in our chromosomes.
This is just one of those moments where “La vie est drôle!”

I'm not trying to pull a philosophical agenda or anything on you and I was definitely not trying to insult you or anyone else in any way. :)

I generally try to not do that and consider myself a pretty open minded person in general. I was just stating my personal view on this subject - I'd just laugh about the whole thing and move on. And I'm glad that you won't sell him off just because of this strange turn of events.

It's more a critique on our society as a whole because I simply like to think about it. A lot of characters in Anime, when they push the boundaries of what is the accepted norm in society (which is even stricter in Japan), get shut down for it. I remember that people hated the main character from the anime Ranpo Kitan because he was very feminine and presented himself in that way. And I don't get why people only accept characters in certain ways.

It's the same with sexualised characters. Hating on sexualised female characters is a thing and there is a reason for it, but then people scream that we need sexualised males and those are ten times better. Both options are perfectly fine as long as both sexes are treated in the same way in their respective source material.

But this goes off topic. I really did not criticise you, the main subject just interested me a lot. :)

Fallen-Cloud4 vuotta sitten#5590615I wouldn't even think about only ordering figures of a certain gender. As long as you think the figure is pretty it's worth it either way! (Not to mention that gender is such a social construct in the first place and everything that isn't clearly feminine or masculine gets looked upon with concern.)

I'd go for Tiera, but he'd have to be dressed as a woman at all times. ^^;

Not being too knowledgeable about the various Gundam properties, s/he would have trapped me as well. S/he has none of that vaguely androgynous look I've come to associate with trap characters, after all.
