Going away for a week or week and half due to house repairsGoing away for a week or week and half due to house repairs

So I wont be living in my house for week or a week and half it is on very short notice. My landlord finally wants to get repairs on house and upgrade our bathrooms. Am going to be staying somewhere else from my city due to this. Am going to be an hour away. I rather my mail be hold in the same place instead of going back and forth to pick up.
My question is because I have an ems package coming. How long will USPS hold my package after given an pink slip I know it only a short time for ems. Or can i request the post office to hold the package and not have package be sent back because of the short ems hold.

pietosis (5 kuukautta sitten) #37382854did you sign up online or did you have to go in person? did you had to explain to them you had a package that required signature and ems but you wont be there to get the package for while to try to hold it for you so they don't send it back.

I signed up for the hold online. I signed for the packages on the spot the day I picked them up (I chose the pick up held mail option btw instead of delivery, probably slightly paranoid but less chance of mess ups that way :P).

ChaosDivine (5 kuukautta sitten) #37382688I've had something like 10 packages held over a 2-week period with just a regular mail-hold, including an EMS one. The max limit for a mail hold with USPS is about a month I believe, UPS holds individual packages for up to 2 weeks, fedex is a week.

Simple, everyday USPS mail hold will do the trick
(you can apply for it on the USPS site).
I use it a couple of times a year when on travel.

My brother just had 15+ packages held while on travel these last ~2 weeks :)

You should let the post office know to hold it. Not worth the cost and risk of getting it sent back...

I think as long as you give USPS a hold mail request, they should hold all your mail, including packages, for up to 30 days. You can also choose to pick up the mail at the post office afterwards, so you could get the package directly from them then.

You should be able to request a hold -- either on a specific package, or a blanket "vacation hold" that applies to all your mail. In lieu of that, if you miss a delivery you can go to the post office with your driver's license; even if you don't have the missed delivery slip, if you have proof of identification they should be able to dig it up for you. Now, admittedly, I've never had to do this for international packages, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
