Hello, first time posting here. I would like to ask a question to you about a thing that concerns me personally about charity -to be detailed, a charity group that my family created in memory of my older brother. I know this sounds like a scam, but I assure you that this is NOT a scam at all! I will be glad to provide you all the links that can prove this is all true. They are in Italian, but I can translate it for you if needed.

Due to the death of my brother, my family decided to create a charity group that wants to create as many 'stanze' (rooms in Italian) as possible inside hospitals, where people can stay and rest while waiting for their beloved's news. Everyone can use the rooms: from the ''light'' ER cases to the ''worst'' ones; a place where you can cry and let it all out in a safe space instead of a corridor.
This group, as explained above, has been created after my brother's death. I hate going into details, but I think it is necessary so it can be all clear.
During Christmas 2010, my family received a call from my brother's friend in UK (place where he lived and worked): he had a severe asthma attack that led him straight to ER. My mother, among with one of her friend, went to UK the next day as she does not speak English at all. When she arrived at the hospital, she found that this hospital had a special room for the patient's family, where they could wait, pray and hope for their dearest one. And where, of course, they can rest, eat etc.
Unfortunaltely, my brother's asthma resulted as a fatal one: he died the day we received the call.
As my mother came home, despite being heart broken, we started thinking about creating some special rooms like the one where my mother stayed during those hard days. Some months later, a first ''stanza'' was created in a pediatric ward in Italy. From then, we have now opened 4 rooms, and if everything will be fine there will be 4 more rooms in Italy within the next year.

I am writing all of this because we are now thinking about creating a fundraiser account to let this project going on, where everyone can donate what they want and can. But we are waiting for a positive response before creating it.

Why do I wrote this post?
Because I would like to help my family as much as possible. I have some figures that I would like to sell due to the lack of space. I would like to use that money to help my mother - who wishes to use her great skills in making home made bags again to the cause.
The figures I would like to sell will come from an open space room; they are all cleaned once a week, and though the boxes are unsealed, they are all put in a wardrobe. Also, the figures that I want to sell have been washed with lukewarm water and a light dish soap. I would also provide a flyer of my charity group when I will send the figure(s).
I was thinking about using PayPal for this. But this is now only an idea.

So my question is: would you buy second-hand figures for a charity?
Thank you for reading.

Firstly, I am very sorry to hear about your brother. I wish your heart recovery and remembrance of the good times you had with him.

As for your question, I don't see why people wouldn't be interested in buying second hand figures, as long as they are figures that they are interested in!
To be blunt, I don't think many collectors would *technically* really care if it's for charity or not because, well, they are getting a figure either way - thought it might prompt some gentler souls to buy a certain figure from you as opposed to from another seller.

For payment, Paypal is definitely a good way to go about it, as I'd wager most people here have it. You should post ads to your figure's respective pages and eventually I'm sure someone will be interested in buying them. <:

tharglet (27 päivää sitten) #43816352Personally, I'd just sell the figures as normal, then donate the proceeds. Maybe have a one-liner to say profits will be going to charity, with a link to more info about the charity it is going to.
Having the blither in the sale text can come off as graspy imo, and doesn't set a good impression. Like you're begging people to buy when they wouldn't normally.

You are right. I still have not added any ad for this reason - I would like not to sound like a beggar. I am picking all the suggestions you are giving me!
Thank you for the feedback :)

MisakiInuko (28 päivää sitten) #43805753Thank you so much for your feedback. That means a lot to me <3
I know that they will just care about the figure, but I thought that it would be nice to let the customer know that the figure's money will be 100% used for a noble cause. However, I will keep your words in mind!
Again, thank you for taking the time to write a comment :)

No problem, and I wish you the best of luck with your sales!!
