Old Gachapon Capsule Figures Strong Plastic Odor/SmellOld Gachapon Capsule Figures Strong Plastic Odor/Smell

Hey, I know there have been various related past articles, but I'm wondering as to what may be the best approach to deal with this.

Here's the situation. I managed to win an auction for these old Fire Emblem gacha figures ENTRY #70241 . They were all sealed, so of course being rather old they were pretty sticky after I took them out of the plastic bags they were individually sealed in. I followed the soapy water tip and managed to remove (most/almost all?) the sticky residue. That's no longer an issue.

However, the smell remains. It's been about 3 days, and that strong plastic smell persists despite leaving them out in the open.

I want to be done with it, so I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions to expedite the process besides leaving them out there for potentially weeks while I have to deal with it.

Thanks in advance~

Shirokage (8 päivää sitten) #54074762If airing it out for a few days doesn't work, maybe try putting the gachapons next to a small open container of baking soda or water together in a sealed box?
Baking soda is known to absorb odours, and I've heard painters say that an open bucket of water can absorb the smell of fresh paint so that might be worth a try if the other two methods don't work? I've never personally tried the water method though, and be sure air dry the figures afterwards just in case if you try the water method.

Never heard about the water thing before, I'll probably try the baking soda method first. Thanks for the help.

I did read another article about it helping with cigarette smoke, but I wasn't sure if that's apply here. Definitely worth a try, thanks!
