Decided to start making "diary" entries when anything interesting happens that's Pop Up Parade related. So actually only if you're a Pop Up Parade fan you'll find these entries interesting...

First I'll start with a sort of intro and explain why I started collecting POP figures and all that stuff. Basically the answer is: Cause scales are hecka expensive and I feel guilty to spend so much money on one plastic figure. When I first started collecting figures I told myself that I'll only buy one figure a month cause paying more than R2000 per month (south african rand) is just crazy! But then I realized that there are sooo many great figures on the market that I really want and a lot of them is releasing in the same month or is waayy over R2000 (including shipping). I realized I'm screwed and knew that this hobby will probably cause a lot of headaches in the future.

Somewhere along the line I started collecting nendoroids instead. That didn't last long cause I started thinking that, even though nendo's are cheaper than scales, they are still overpriced for what you get. So I stopped with nendo collecting and also figure collecting altogether. (I started buying manga/light novels instead, but not important.) Take note I still looked at wonfes stuff there after.

Then I noticed the POP figure announcements, saw the price, the characters that will be released (miku, kizuna ai, saber) and got extremely excited. These are the reasons why I feel POP figures are great: 1) Obviously the price (take note even EMS shipping isn't that crazy since the figures are smaller)
2) Since there aren't that many announcements for POP figures you won't get overwhelmed with the amount and overspend. The majority of the POP figures I don't want cause I'm not interested in the character or haven't watched the show yet.
3) You feel like you're part of a "club". I keep track of every POP figure and my physical collection will mostly consist of POP figures in the future.
4) The quality is still really good. I already received Miku and her paintwork is almost perfect. Can possibly give other scales a run for their money. GSC still put in a lot of effort to deliver something nice even when it's much cheaper than the scales.

The only real downside is probably the size of POP figures. I still feel the size is decent enough. I actually like smaller figures cause they take up less space and are easier to handle, plus they are rather cute. But perhaps if they were just that teensy bit bigger the size would have been perfect.

I already decided that I will only collect POP figures and nothing else. I didn't even look at the other companies' figure announcements this wonfes. I'm reserving my money for POP figures only.

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

Now I can start with the POP figures themselves.

1) I already said I own Miku. She's great. Will definitely not be the best POP figure in my collection. Not by a long shot. But very decent for the price and I'm super happy to own her.

2) I pre-ordered Kizuna Ai. I definitely want her. Not an impulse buy at all. Really enjoy her channel and is currently following it and watching every new video (if eng subs are available) Take note I watch AI games too and would really love a figure of her in her gamer outfit. PLEASE GOOD SMILE!

3) Also pre-ordered Goblin Slayer. At first I wasn't sure but realized I really enjoyed the light novels so far (will watch the anime in the future) so I caved and ordered. He will be my first male figure. Very excited for that cause I love my male characters but unfortunately most scales of them just don't look that great to me so I never bought them but Goblin Slayer looks decent.

4) Shiro is currently on my maybe list. Never really watched or read the show. I also don't really like Shiro. So why am I considering her? Because of her dynamic pose and colourful hair. She can make my collection pop. Waiting to see her painted then I'll make my final decision.

5) I'm really really excited for Saber Lily. Since her painted version was revealed today I have a feeling she'll be released in December so she'll be my next pre-order most likely. Really love her elegant pose and dress. Right now the pic of her painted version looks a bit dull but I believe the official pics for when she becomes available for pre-order will look really nice.

6) Also extremely excited for Saber's original version. Perhaps more than Saber lily. Right now no prototype so I hope the pose won't be too boring (static) But I have hope for her and will definitely get her no matter what. She'll then join Goblin Slayer as the only armored figures in my collection.

The above POP figures are the ones that were announced before this wonfes. I also want to talk about the new POP announcements but will leave that for a later diary entry (which will be really soon) Sorry for the long post >.<

Kemcy1 vuotta sitten#64639358It's seems to me like they are aiming for popular characters first to establish their brand, so I'm kinda hoping for some Cardcaptor figures. Though I'd be down for more CLAMP series or more old school series like Inuyasha as well.

Haven't watched cardcaptor sakura but there are figures of her that's very beautiful so if a figure like one of those gets a POP I might consider.

i was so excited once they announced pop up parade! especially because i was (& still am) relatively new to figure collecting at the time. and since 2010 racing miku is one of my favorite of her gsr designs, seeing a pop-up with an all new pose that wouldn't be running my wallet dry was like a dream come true (':

Lize1 vuotta sitten#64540855I like the other racing miku's much more so waiting for them. Hopefully they'll receive POP figures though.

It is definitely possible. I have a couple of the other years as scales, 2012 and 2016 but I imagine GSC would do them from oldest to newest w/ pop up. Since the newer ones are a little easier to find now and the quality is already pretty good. Not to say is older is bad, I really like the 2012.

LemonMIntCat1 vuotta sitten#64540628I do have the Miku 2010 Racing,ITEM #740198, preordered, I really like her colors. Otherwise I feel the same about Saber Lily, you can see I commented on her page a few times, I hope her actual colors are more vibrant. I like that these are more affordable but at the same time I can see why a smaller number of people are interested overall. But I look forward to seeing some others in the future.

Kemcy1 vuotta sitten#64540491I'm also super interested in the Pop series (and my wallet too), but the figure selection is still small. Once they do release a character that I like, I'll most probably get it. :)

Which characters are you hoping for?
