victorviper7 kuukautta sitten#72244966That same thing keeps me from picking up either of these figures - ITEM #144564 and ITEM #396837. In both of those items, it's not totally clear whether the setting is supposed to be an erotic game or if there's something nonconsensual going on, and I just don't like the possibility of the latter. That also ultimately dissuaded me from this ITEM #806165 figure as well.

Yes, as long as it is playful and consensual, I feel the same. Otherwise, even if the design is rather excellent, sometimes off.

brcorb7 kuukautta sitten#72218449Wonderful review of this figure. Much agree with the bow tie [which was much more detailed here than seen in official photos] and jacket elements, and satchel. Buckle comments noted - when all the metal parts look 'metallic', usually a good indicator of figure quality. Display choice also standard face without pantsu as my 1a choice, could not pick just one.
The painting QA is discouraging, as noted also on your Adesugata II posts [their figure in this line with most elements appealing to myself, shibari, cuffs, skirt, colored short hair, golden skin]. I reallllly like the unique design and sculpt, but noticeable paint errors, urgh my visual cortex. Great information prior to purchase consideration.
Thanks for your time and research here, blog posts worth visiting now and in the future.

It's surprising how much the bow on her outfit stands out once you notice it. It's something that I didn't really notice in the promo shots, but it's very noticeable in person.

This figure does have some of the same issues as does ITEM #674652, but overall I would say this figure is far, far superior. It just feels to me like there was much more time, effort, and care put into this figure as compared to the earlier one. All the alternative parts, the elaborate base, and even the slightly different lengths of chain all suggest attention to detail, and my impression of ITEM #674652 in retrospect is more like "let's just throw this together and get it released".

sailormatlac7 kuukautta sitten#72218009For the record, I voted Blindfolded, panties on. Blindfolded because the closed eyes version is probably too close to reality... seems like a rape is happening (and not a game). Opened eyes are too far common in this kind of figure. Panties on... because part of seduction is about suggestion...

I'm with you here. Something about the closed-eyes face definitely gives off an air of nonconsensuality, and if that was the only possible face option, I probably would not have added this figure to my collection. I don't know if that was the intent or not, but it's always hard to be sure.

sailormatlacMaybe we are in an epoch not so different from the 1920s.

I'm intrigued. What exactly makes you compare today to the 1920's?

I can see some interesting parallels with the 20's (objectively speaking, overall prosperity is high at the moment, there's been a spike in consumerism to be sure, and it's hard to deny that new technologies have caused a shift in lifestyles), and now we just have to hope that it all doesn't come crashing down in the same manner :).

vgadict8 kuukautta sitten#72084088I may be in the minority here, but something about the figure's body proportions or her appearance gives me a loli-vibe, and it makes me concerned that she may be underage. With the bondage theme added in, it quickly crosses into a territory where I'd rather not venture, or even try to explain to someone else viewing it.

I must admit I have the same concerns... it really crosses some line and I'm pretty sure many people less knowledgeable about the anime-style erotic figure world would come to some hasty yet somewhat deserved conclusion. And maybe, to some point, that conclusion is right whatever the artistic lense we use to critic or appraise that work. Honestly, we live in a strange era where overprotective discourses and overexposure are living side by side in the weirdest way. Maybe we are in an epoch not so different from the 1920s.

Which brings us to the other aspect of this review I'd like to talk about. One must admit this culture of eroticism in recent years has push forward the quality of PVC. I was recently making the remark to a friend how fiction-based figures are nowadays far superior to traditional public sculpture in general. Compare old public bronzes to new ones and you'll see a great difference in clothing, dynamism, realism, etc. There is soul in the work that no longer exist in public art, too focus on the ever elusive "concept" or bs about the artist's experience (which most people don't care about). Interestingly enough, we find that soul in PVC nowadays. If I had a public art of work to commission, I'd look at these people. And that brings to a last question: it seems we can channel incredible amount of artistic sensibility in erotic paraphernalia while we hardly can muster energy when it relates to the group. The shift in auditoire is indeed interesting... and the shift in focus too.

But with all that said, I once again pay respect to Victorviper for handling such a sensitive topic with care and intelligence! My own taste and values aside, I must admit it is indeed a well crafted figure. I've often seen similar figures and they struck me as quite convoluted... this one is dangerously realistic in a down-to-earth way. Maybe it's why we are a few to have been somewhat triggered since the mask of fiction fell down! ;-)
