  • sailormatlac1 kuukautta sitten#79556895Thanks for the review. I didn't pre-order her back in the days since I wasn't sure. Then simply forgot about her, thinking a Gantz bunny was bound to see its aftermarket price skyrocket. Glad to see she turned out to be a wonderful bunny figure and she's affordable.
But that stand... Can't believe figure makers are still relying on such unsightly shenanigans. It reminds me of Gift 1/4 Nanoha figures... which incidently I never displayed with their stand yet they are still fine.

I've given up trying to predict Gantz figure prices, and with something like this ITEM #806245 who knows if the preowned price will sink or if it's next stop 150,000 yen. With this particular figure though, I suspect the price drop might be because she simply takes up so much space that people didn't know where to display her after purchase.

I'm rolling the dice and not using the stand. Color transfer from the fishnets is not exactly uncommon with these FREEing bunnies, and I have to think that having the stand pressing the stockings against her leg 24/7 will inevitably result in color transfer.

Demigod_Dan2 kuukautta sitten#77960395...in this case FREEing is going to say in the future? "-Original design figure X- sales numbers were disappointing, we cannot take this risk again for a while".
Cue future generic figure design release. Cue complaints of people.

I don't envy the job of the people at figure companies that design the sculpts. I guess it's a labor of love, but I get the feeling what you've described happens a lot. Someone does a very ambitious design, but then it doesn't sell well, so that encourages more-of-the-same designs which are comparatively boring, but which the companies know will sell.

Hello, thanks for the wholesome review.

I am very upset about her aftermarket price because it serves as yet another excellent example for human hypocrisy. It goes a bit like this:

Humans: Wow FREEing (etc), stop releasing only generic bunnies. We want to see more variety in their designs!

Also humans: Wow (anime franchise adaptation companies, example Classroom of the Elite anime adaptation from manga), you had such great source material but you botched it completely! Shame on you!

    >FREEing releases a super original bunny which at the same time cannot possibly be more true to the source material in every aspect

Humans: *ignores the figure en masse, continues to spend larger amounts of money on the same generic crap they complain about non-stop*

    -------------

So yes, I can totally understand the marketing NIGHTMARE from a product selling perspective because your target audience proves time and time again that their complaints shouldn't be taken serious, but on the other hand you fear that they might finally stop spending on actual hyped franchise crap *Cough SAO for example Coughhh* and that you have to try to listen to their complaints and improve your product using that feedback.

People do this to themselves. I have no sympathy whatsoever for people complaining about for example Senran Kagura's Yumi getting 9001 figures vs 0 of most of the other characters. You speak with your wallet in the end, and if you just let figures like this 'drop dead' then you know what in this case FREEing is going to say in the future? "-Original design figure X- sales numbers were disappointing, we cannot take this risk again for a while".

Cue future generic figure design release. Cue complaints of people. The cycle repeats itself. The downfall of people = their hypocrisy and inability to learn / think how their actions influence future outcomes. You cannot build trust based on something statistically false.

I find that really endearing! :D

    :)

MaakieIt was very weird to see her next to ITEM #135060 , not only because of the proportions, but also with the height of the body Kuroko towers over her! And looking forward to hopefully soon a review of ITEM #618732 . :)

I was actually surprised to see that Reika is at the small side of 1/4 scale. The differences between Reika and Kuroko are striking - Kuroko is all head and torso, while Reika has much longer legs and overall more realistic features.

Do you know the source of ITEM #618732? I don't recall if we've discussed that manga, but it's a superhero parody by Nozomu Tamaki (Dance in the Vampire Bund). I've sort of loafed around with reviewing that figure because I wonder how many people actually know the source/character.

Gantz has been on my 'need to watch' list for so many years, but never got to it. I recently saw that a standalone (?) movie from the series was added to Netflix, but I think watching the anime series first is better.

Gantz is...interesting. A lot of people can't get past the copious fanservice and extreme violence, but there's a really interesting story underneath all of that. I've been meaning to watch the Gantz live action movies; they are supposed to be quite good (at least for B-movie fare), and there's also the CGI Gantz:O as well.

The first 4 episodes or so of the anime form a nice little arc, so that would probably tell you whether or not you will like the show.

This is definitely one of the more original FREEing 1/4 bunny's! I love so much parts of the design, especially her shoes and the more 'rough' bunny tail! The extra stand/pole is a shame though, but making such big figures seem to come with a lot of risks in the engineering department as well.

victorviper3 kuukautta sitten#77620659I really like the blue and black color scheme of the shoes. I like the color palette of the Gantz shoes enough so that whenever I buy running shoes, I always try to find a pair in blue and black :).

And wow, what a price drop! I remember ITEM #676240 doing the same at first, but I was not able to buy her when she was on sale...right now she sells for the same or higher than her release price. *sigh* I like how Veronica also has some parts more original than 'your standard bunny', such as the belts, shoes and the sleeves looking like uniform pieces.

Helsing3 kuukautta sitten#77619893Nice figure but the face is scuffed , especially compared against the smaller scale of her

Do you mean that the face looks small relative to her body? I actually measured her head-to-body ratio, and it's right about 1/7, and the typical human is about 1/7.5.

Talal3 kuukautta sitten#77620511some other companies did better job than freeing . the only problem that she is in bunny style and I feel she left her character style by being in bunny style . imagine you see Harley Quinn or wonder woman in bunny style . over all is a nice figure .

It would be interesting to see some western characters given the 1/4 FREEing treatment, but Kotobukiya seems to grab up almost all of the licenses from western media franchises...

Silverwing_ssy3 kuukautta sitten#7760126014k for preowned is so worth

I was surprised to see such a large price drop, but sometimes I guess the "big box" factor will do that. It's sometimes hard to tell what very large scale figures will do in terms of price post-release. Sometimes a figure will drop rapidly like this one, and sometimes the prices go absolutely crazy, like happened with ITEM #331693 and ITEM #331689.

In any event, 14k is definitely a good price for this one.

OceanRoost3 kuukautta sitten#77599973Wow what a huge figure! Those size comparison pictures really make the difference sink in!
    Thanks for the review.

This figure has taken over title of "largest figure in my collection" from Gift's Sena Kashiwazaki ITEM #166954. I was a little surprised to see that Reika is maybe just short of "true" 1/4 scale.
