I hate about me's. I'm rather poor at writing about myself. That being said, I'll give it a shot, so my page doesn't look quite so blank. =P I'm a life-long nerd. I love video games and anime, they've both been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. My hobbies include gaming, watching anime, collecting figures, building Gundam kits, reading, writing, and producing music.

I live in windy Wyoming, but I'm a transplant here, originally from Boston. I love Dunkin Donuts, Patriot's football, and of course the Red Sox. I don't mind life in this quiet city, but there sure are far more cowboys than nerds!

I also dabble in Hip-Hop.

Anyway, that about sums me up. Feel free to hit me up, I'm a pretty chatty, laid back dude, and I love discussing nerdy culture with fellow nerds!

Anyway, thanks for visiting!

Kromert (2 vuotta sitten) #10710825Yeah dude, I'll do something here in the near future, just been busy, lol. But I am still alive! I've been thinking of building and reviewing this Freedom 2.0, haven't been able to get around to it yet. That's cool you have somewhere local to buy though! And yeah dude, topcoating makes so much difference. I've personally been wanting to try a new panel lining technique involving thinning paint, but I haven't had the time yet. Recurring theme here, lol. And I think maybe that was what I really liked about IBO honestly, it felt...idk, refreshing? I enjoyed it a lot. And like you said, great designs.
And I hear you with the streamlining, but it feel like its difficult, lol. I find it a lot easier to buy more stuff then to sell my stuff. But I have gotten rid of some of the random figures I had and didn't have any particular feeling towards.
And man, I'm jealous you went to MikuExpo, I bet that was awesome! I've always really wanted to go to a Miku concert of some kind. Hopefully I'll be able to go to one in Japan one of these days. You playing X at all? Because I am addicted =P

I have been staring at the Freedom 2.0 (we're talking about the HG one, right?) and been debating on getting it- while I didn't really like SEED very much, I like that design a lot. I have the original HG, but I like to believe my skills have improved enough since then that I can do a much better job this time around.

What's this new panel lining technique you speak of? Do tell! I both love and hate using Gundam markers to panel line- I was told the Micron ones are better so I'll have to pick some up and see if that really is the case.

Going to be moving to a house later this year, and I was thinking of downsizing a bit- bought too many things when I first started and I really don't want some of it anymore. Hope to find them a good home where someone can appreciate them more than I can. I have narrowed my collecting down a few categories, and it's been working out pretty well.

And yeah, the Miku Expo was awesome- very fun and unique two and a half hours. Spent the week after it listening to nothing BUT Miku, haha. I haven't played X actually, but I'm most likely going to pick up the new Project Diva game on the PS4 whenever it drops!

Kromert (2 vuotta sitten) #10471659KATSUDON! What's good homie? Yeah dude, I feel like I haven't been here in foreverrrr, I MISS THIS BOARD! Life happened, went through a dark time, cut off pretty much any and all social interaction. I've been meaning to come by here for some time, I'm just a busy guy these days. But I would love to try and make an effort to get involved in the community again. (If anyone besides yourself even remembers me at this point, lol.) I might not have been around, but I assure you I never stopped building, I've probably done 2 dozen or so kits since last we spoke, watched as much anime as I normally do, and exponentially increased my figure collection, so now I have a lot of updating to do to the profile! (PS I'm hoping you enjoyed Iron-Blooded as much as I did!)
Maybe some day in the near future I could do the first review in forever, recently built the Gusion Rebake, which is sick, and I've got last months 2.0 Freedom I need to put together! My biggest reason for hopping on today was to throw some stuff up in the shop, I really want to order a Cheerful Miku before they put it on order stop, just too damn tight this month. I've never sold figures before, but so it goes!
But yeah, after my stupid long hiatus, it feels good to be back here!
Hope all is well with you! What's new?

I... Actually was not expecting a response since I wrote this over a year ago. I'm sorry to hear that you went through some stuff but I'm glad that you have returned though, welcome back! And you should definitely try to get involved in the community again, it's as lively as ever- once you get situated, maybe you could write up another tutorial or do a kit review?

Been building on and off myself, as there are some days where I want nothing else but to build kits and some where I would rather do anything else. I recently got my roommate into it though, so I have been on a bit of a kick lately. There's a Hobbytown USA a few minutes from my office so I occasionally go there to pick up supplies and some random kits- I don't have a backlog at the moment but that's subject to change. I started topcoating the ones I have and I'm honestly surprised by how much better they look- though I kind of wish that the panel lines would do themselves as I hate that step of the process, haha. And yeah, I really enjoyed IBO- despite it not feeling like a normal Gundam series. The story was good and the mecha designs were great. (And I can't wait to see what the mid series upgrade of the Barbatos is going to be)

I bought Cheerful Miku on a whim the other month. (well, I ordered her and didn't know they were going to charge right away so I chalked it up as an impulse buy) This is the best price you're probably going to get her for though, as odds are she'll skyrocket in price again after she comes out. Selling stuff isn't too hard, as MFC makes it super easy!

And I'm doing quite well, thanks for asking. Things have been more or less the same for me, I keep trying to cutback on collecting and slow down a bit but it never goes that way... I have streamlined my collection in terms of what I want to collect and trying my best to NOT get anything asides from those, but we'll see how that goes. Asides from that, just working, playing games, and watching anime. My life is not what one would call 'exciting' but I like the consistency of it.

I was building the HG Sinanju, that darn thing has so many parts for a HG it's basically a tiny MG at this point. It is also taller than most HGs out there as well. If you want them on BD, you might just have to wait for the boxset, as the individual volumes aren't cheap... I own the first two and that set me back $120. (I torrented the rest, lol) Yeah, I would have gotten the MG Rezel for $40- you could have regretted it AFTER you built it and saw the balance issues for yourself.

I'm going to start packing tomorrow after I catch the new shows that air- gonna box up the majority of my figures (minus the ones that are a pain to put back in their boxes) and go from there.

You should definitely do some research to see if you can go that route- Detolfs help immensely, thinking of grabbing a couple more for myself actually...

I don't own any of the Muv-Luv revoltechs, I just have EVAs, Orbital Frames, and an assortment of random ones. I own exactly three figmas and I can already tell you that they're easier to play with, the joint system is better but they definitely feel a lot more fragile than revoltech... Never had a problem with joints being loose with revoltech, it's usually the exact opposite in that they're too tight and are not easy to pose because of it. (the legs just don't ever seem to want to bend normally) I have a love/hate relationship with both, but that's because I'm a figuarts guy.

KanColle is supposed to be really good, but it doesn't seem like I'll ever be able to experience the joy of it firsthand, alas.

I'm actually skipping Akame, I've read all the manga that has been translated up to this point and I just don't really enjoy it- I feel it tries too hard to be gritty and edgy at times and it also feels like torture porn during some parts.

Survival Game Club was funny, not sure how good it's going to be though- shows that go at that pace and are constantly breaking the fourth wall can either be great or fall apart really quickly... Giving it the three episode rule. And I don't really do BL, so I won't be watching DRAMAtical murder- just not really my thing.

00 is one of those series that you either love or hate, I don't know anyone that's conflicted about how that show makes them feel haha. But yes, we could use more Gundam fans- it would mean my dream of meeting a cute girl that likes giant robots is getting closer to becoming a reality... =P And fall anime seasons are always packed and full of great shows- it's definitely the season I look forward to the most, that's for sure.

I made it through all seven- by that I mean I was sorta watching while building. (I had seen the first 5 prior to this point, so I only had to actually watch the last two) I got MOST of the kit built, just have to build the weapons and the backpack. It's unpainted currently of course, that will have to be be done at a later time... I've been wanting to buy Kshatriya as well, along with a Banshee- hell, I'll buy all the Unicorn kits, the designs are great. Don't know how far you got in the series, but a good chunk of either episode 4 or 5 is basically a toy commercial. >>

I haven't moved yet, things keep changing- mainly just been cleaning up the place and packing up some things, need to buckle down one of these days and just get all done so I don't have to worry about it later.

Since you don't have access to detolfs, simple is probably the way to go. And as for Revoltechs... I love how their quality products for the price you pay, but the ball-joint system of theirs is definitely a lot better in theory than in execution- it has gotten MUCH better as the line grew though. Not to mention some of them play better than others- the EVAs are a prime example of this: some are great, and some are not fun to pose in the slightest. (the leg joints always move in very awkward angles) With that said though, the new Ninja Turtles ones look amazing and I need to get my hands on them! Let me know if you want me to elaborate, I can write a college thesis about this lol.

I have no idea about the VPN stuff, you're better off asking someone who's computer savvy! And I have not played Capsule Fighters, kinda want to though.

Aldnoah.Zero definitely had one of the strongest starts out of all the summer shows that have aired thus far, the colony drop near the end felt very UC. I have a funny feeling it's going to be up this weird lovechild between UC Gundam series and Zone of The Enders. And actually, Akame is on Crunchyroll! They went from having no new shows to getting like half of them- I think they might pick up a few more, as there are still some that have yet to air.

Reconquista is gonna have stiff competition with the Fate/Zero remake (the hype train is strong with that one, to say the least) I hope it's good, but a Gundam series aimed towards the younger crowd can really go either way... Only time will tell. Don't want to get my hopes up too high, gonna stay realistic about it and hope I walk away surprised. (like I did with Build Fighters) And I don't hate the G-Self, it's definitely a design that grows on you the more you look at it- and I know it's too soon to be talking about this, but I want to know what the mandatory 'mid-series upgrade' Gundam looks like!

Kromert (4 vuotta sitten) #2230860Ahh shit, I had that same thing happen to me once, it sucked! Same thing, just had to move to another one in the same complex. Even still, it sucked. And even if it is a hell of a lot easier, I still feel for you movin that many figs, bro!
NG NL is one I plan on marathoning now that its done, especially since we've got this 3 day weekend! I have a shelf to build after my incident the other evening, and I have to work here and there, but I should have time. I'm sure I'll love it just as much 2nd time around.
And I have Netflix, so I will be checking for Knights, thanks!
Well, I thought it got better, but I'm easy to please, lol. They didn't have to spend so much time on introductions and stuff. Though I didn't personally care for Diva, the Spirit introduced in the final "arc". The twins are awesome though!
And I could ALMOST agree with you on Tohka, if it weren't for Tokisaki Kurumi...Mmmm...Lol XP
Where does one even play KanColle? My Japanese isn't terrible, as long as the Kanji has the small Hiragana characters next to it (furigana?) I can usually read alright, albeit SUPER SLOW. I've been reading the Japanese Gurren Lagann manga at a snail's pace for way longer than I'd care to admit to anyone, lol.
A couple shows came out today though, and 1st episode of Aldnoah.Zero comes out a day from now, that's the one I'm most excited for hands down! Gonna miss NG NL and Chaika, but I'm glad Irregular is continuing at least. Now I can't wait till October for Chaika S2 and Log Horizon S2.
And if they'd EVER put out Hanamonogatari...*sigh*
(Course, I'm still waiting on Kizumonogatari...lol)
(PS no worries on the double post, lol. It is strange though!)

Yeah, to say that I'm not looking forward to it would be an understatement. -____- I have done nothing my three day weekend thus far, but going to go to a friend's house here in a bit because he was going to marathon all of Unicorn in one sitting and build some gunpla. (I have no idea if I'll make it through all 7 or finish a kit, but should be fun nonetheless)

What kind of shelf are you planning on building? After I move I was going to head to the local Ikea and buy some wall units so I can display some of my collection better. (like my Figuarts and Revoltech)

KanColle is a browser game, but you need to change your computers VPN to Japanese in order to play it- I had to have a friend help me with it because I had no idea how to get it set up, the Japanese isn't too complex, I can read all the kanji (being of Chinese descent helps) but everything else might as well be gibberish to me. Maybe you'll have better luck than me, haha.

As I type this, I am eagerly anticipating the premiere of Aldnoah.Zero- a mech show done by Urobutcher just sounds incredibly promising. (not going to get attached to any of the characters, of course)I've watched the shows that have aired thus far, and I liked most of them, but nothing in particular has jumped out at me yet, but pilot episodes can be very hit or miss.

Hanamonogatari is airing on 8/16, it's a 5-episode marathon apparently... And yes, Chaika S2 and Log Horizon S2 are exciting and all, but let's not forget the main attractions of fall here: RECONQUISTA IN G AND BUILD FIGHTERS SEASON TWO!!!!

Kromert (4 vuotta sitten) #2230830Well....First off...
Sieg Zeon!
Thank you though, always a pleasure to meet a fellow Gunpla enthusiast! It's cool you guys make models together. But I've just gotta ask- Which one of you got stuck with the tubes on those MG Zakus? lol. My MG Zaku is quite old, which could be an issue, but the tubes were a nightmare. (But I love the EFSF Zaku and Katoki-Sama!)
I'd love to see a pic of your one leg Zaku. At least you had a good attitude about it, and were able to still work it into your display! I've got a handful of HG Zakus, and every one of them at one point or another has taken a stage dive. Their balance just isn't the best. =/
Was your RX-78 undamaged?
And man, I've had the MG Gouf on my wishlist for a while now, no idea why I haven't bought it, it's my favorite grunt Mobile Suit of all time.
And no, I've actually never watched Sgt. Frog, and I don't really know anything about it, save that they are known to make Gundam references.
Anyway, thanks for stoppin by!
-Krom

A pleasure to meet you too!

Your greeting was worthy of a FR. When we were watching the older series, I found myself rooting for the Zeon. (Not to mention that Commander Char was just awesome.) What might be amusing is the fact that we didn't start picking up dvds for the older series until after we started putting together the models. Gundam Wing was our first.

Husband put together the majority of the Zakus, hence he was the one putting together the tubes.I offered to help, but he would hear none of it. If I remember, it was the clear version of Char's Zaku that gave him the most grief. Gouff is my fav, so I put together both HG and MG. On the broken one, the RX-78 was just fine, a good thing since it was the hardest one to find. I'll have to get a picture of the broken Zaku, Gouff is getting revenge for it's buddy on the shelf. Every once in awhile, I'll look on the shelf and my husband will have posed it differently. XD

I remember hearing that one of the original Gundam creators works with the creator of Sgt. Frog. (Even designed some mech stuff for the series. Well, it's all Bandai. ) Lots of gratuitous Gundam and Gunpla references. It's way more fun than it has any right to be and funny as hell.
